Honestly, learning anything beyond the basics (U, R, BRB, LOL and that kind of stuff) is a waste of time.
Seriously, no one actually sends messages like:
ROFLMONADE LMIRL IWSN.
It just doesn't happen, unless the sender is mocking the excessive "txt" speak.
Likewise 1337 is just as worthless to learn (74|_|%26lt;1|\|G L'/|%26lt; |)15 - i.e. "talking like this") It's dead, except for mochary in internet forums.
Just know the basics, and you'll understand.
