Is it right for my mom to be reading all my myspace messages and text messages?

i go away from the computer for 2 minutes to go to the bathroom or something, and i always find her reading through my messages. then she makes me give her my phone for no reason, and she reads all my text messages. it is soo frustrating! what can i do to get her to stop?

If you're under 18 and she's paying the bills for your phone, Internet access, and she owns the computer you can't do anything to "make" her stop. All you can do is ask her not to do it.

Myspace is a threat to some parents.. this is what kids do not realize. There are people out there so smooth they can do anything. Your mom is scared..

Want some advice? Stop being like every other kid and lay off myspace.

This is only happening because you are letting it.

can i ask how old you are?

my son is 11 and on myspace and i read his messages, and his texts and emails too, as a parent i worry who he is talking to and what he is up to, so if you are a teen i think that your mom has every right to read them

Tell your mom that you don't like when she does that. My mom won't let me text or have a MySpace, so I don't hafta worry about that stuff. Lucky me.

Depends on if she has suspicions of you doing somethign that you shouldn't be doing. But, as far as getting her to stop. Log out.

Turn 18, get a job, pay for your own cell and computer. You are too young to have a cell.

With all of the wacko's out there now a days stalking underage girls online, I am not surprised that she is just being cautious. It may be annoying and a invasion of your privacy, but I doubt that she is doing it because she wants to be all in your business.

As for the phone, if she is paying for it....there isnt much you can say. If you don't have anything to hide then I wouldnt worry about her reading them. You can always just start deleting them after you read/send them, might solve that problem

a teenager: omg that stinks, it would probibly drive me nuts!!!

an adult: it's for your own good...

me: wow, sucks to be you. lol... srry

log off when u leave the computer! i take it she is doing it cuz she doesnt trust you. lol. put a password your your windows xp user name. when u leave the computer, click start, log off %26amp; switch user. it will take you back to the log on screen where u gotta put in a password to get back on your name. you will still b logged in, but the password will b needed to get back on ur name. another thing i like to do is enable your screen saver to kick in after a minute. there is an option u can click that says "on resume, switch to welcome screen" everytime your screen saver kicks in after a min (like say if u leave the computer) when u come back n move the mouse, it will take you back to the welcome / log in screen. hope this helpz u bad azz. j/k

shes your mom so probably nothing...get used to it bc moms will snoop your entire life!!! If you are over 18 I say move out, if you're not which i dont think you are, then you just have to deal with it until then. You could talk to her about it and how you want your privacy with some things but there are alot of wackos out there and your mom is probably just scared and protective of you. look on the positive side, shes looking out for you!

as long as you are not 18 she can do as she pleases. be glad she cares enough about you to keep a check on you. their are alot of crazy people out there and she is just trying to watch out for you. be glad your mother cares, because alot of them dont.

First thing you need to train yourself is to always log off when you leave your computer. You can send text messages thru Yahoo to your friends cells and Yahoo gives you privacy of your password. She is monitoring you because she does not trust you. You are rebellious because she drives you banana.

Get a job and pay for your own phone, you will earn her respect. I started working when I was 8 years old, today I am still working at 43. If you want independance from your mother, show her you can be independant from her financially.

What your mom is doing is because you are a girl. Educate your self before getting pregnant. It is very easy to get pregnant, be careful.

you complain about your mom reading your messages,,apparently you have done something to make her distrust you ,or she wouldn't be reading them,,respect must be earned not just given. good or bad you should always be able to talk with your parents, ask her how you can earn her trust and mabe instead of trying to be sneaky,,share your things with her,, it might just help

You might feel that your mom is invading your privacy when she does those things but what you need to understand is that your mom is really expressing her concerns for your safety. There are legitimate reasons for parents to be concerned. Children are kidnapped, raped, and murdered every year and the Internet is one of the tools that pedophiles use to make a connection with their victims.

If you are not doing anything that your parents would not approve of in your text messaging and on my space you should have nothing to worry about. If you really want to know why your mom is doing these things take a moment to ask her in a nice way why she is always reading your test messages. If you demand an explanation, or for her to stop it will only raise her suspicions even more. Do not give her fuel for the fire. After all you probably mean more to her than anything else in the world, and she is just trying to protect you.

I'm 17 and my mom reads my myspace comments, get over it, it's public to anyone else in the world. read it, delete it, get over it.

Don't try to be sneaky and delete your texts, it will just make her wonder why you're using 500 a month but when you hand over your phone, you only sent 1. She can call your cell provider and get a full transcript. don't bury yourself deeper.

To be one hundred percent honest with you, I think that if you are under 18.. your mother has every right to do that. I understand that its frustrating but with the way the world is today, parents have to go the extra mile to protect their kids and I support the ones like your mother esspecially when it comes down to MySpace. MySpace is a breading ground for trouble, with thousands and thousands of members there can be no guarentee of safety. Your mom is in the right! To that 11 year old that mde the comment 'overprotective' and that your messages are none of her 'bizzness'... I feel deeply sorry for that child. One, no eleven year old should be talking the way she is.. and two.. it is unfortunate that her mother does not go the extra mile to protect her.

Many parents go through their children's emails, and phones.. to help protect you from predators. Its sad that we have to go the route these days but its a precaution you should be willing to have in order to keep you safe. It is for the best.. she most likely is not doing it to be nosy, but to make sure you aren't in contact with someone that could hurt you. If I were you, I would appreciate that.

This is coming from a 16 year old that knows more facts of life than I wanted to know...

I have had many men and women online say they are my age and want to meet me and stuff... but you can't trust just anyone... and even after years of talking with some people, I still won't move an inch to meet them or give them my address, its just too risky. Your mother is doing whats best for you!

Is it right for my mom to be reading all my myspace messages and text messages?

My mom trys to do the same thing, my advice is to not leave your computer on when you leave, take off whatever you go. The text messages dont write anything you dont want her or anyone to be reading, trust me i know how it is, there nothing you can do. Also with the text my adive is also dont use it, jsut waited til you see your friends or whoever your texting unless it family

hope this helps

That depends on how old you are...but my mom done that to me to..it's gets frustrating, but she is just worried, maybe she is actually aware of the sickos out there. If you don't have anything to hide then don't worry about it...if you are over like 17 then just make sure you sign out before you leave the computer.

Is it right for my mom to be reading all my myspace messages and text messages?

Um it depends your age. My mom doesn't check my messages but she checks my layout and checks if it's decent. And i'm 16. But I could careless because I have nothing to hide. YOu could always delete your messages afterwards(that's what my friend does) or you could just not talk about ANYTHING that your mom shouldn't know about on your myspace.
